North Rim

Closest Major City: Chico

Distance: 10.00 miles (16.09 KM)

Description:
There are many trails to choose from in the Upper Bidwell Park Area. This park is the third largest municipal park in the US. The trail that I have described in a technical climb with lava flows and loose rocks. There is also Middle Trail and Lower Trail for less technical riders. Chico Creek runs through the canyon and on the South side of the creek there is also a great single track up and back. there is approximately 50 some miles of trails in Upper Bidwell Park and it's always refreshing to take a dip in the creek when you are finished. Please- pack it in / pack it out!!

Directions to the trail:
From Chico, CA take Hwy 32 East to Forest Ave. Turn left (north) and follow this road for about 3 miles. You will cross over Chico Creek and you will pass a parking area. Keep going on Forest Ave. and then take your next right. There is a Fire Station on the Corner. Follow this road till it dead ends at Horseshoe Lake and park. From there you can take the road up (which is closed Sun and Mon) or you can pick and choose your single track. North Rim Trail in the farthest trail to the north. You will ride up this trail / road for approximately 4-5 miles. You will then see a single track trail head to the right which drops down into the canyon. Follow this until you hit the road and turn right to go back to the car. Or, you can catch a single track back the way you came. Or you can turn left and ride the road till the end. Along the way, you may see other trails that drop down into the creek- many swimming holes (Brown's Hole, Salmon Hole, etc.)
