Zion Loop

Closest Major City: Los Angeles

Distance: 12.00 miles (19.31 KM)

Description:
Start moderate singletrack uphill. In about 2mi you begin to descend and get dropped into the main creek. Cross the creek and ride 50 yards to a mild fork, Stay left going straight uphill (if you miss the fork you will continue downhill to Hoagee campground). This is where you pay your dues, going straight up about 2 miles to the saddle (very hot and dry). At the saddle proceed to the left trail heading back down and this is the downhill, all the way back to the bottom of the canyon (if you get confused on downhill always stick to mail trail). At canyon bottom, you could take a sidetrip to Stuardvant Falls or ride out, to ride out head up paved service road 1 mile to parking area. To shorten this ride at the 1st fork just before the camp continue downhill and through the campground, this trail will also take you to the canyon bottom and is also a great technical singletrack, it is just shorter, both these rides have technical sections, fast sections and good aerobic potential. Just make sure you obey all courtesy to hikers as I have heard that they are considering closing this trail to bikes. Also after a rain if you are caught riding this trail you will be cited for it. Enjoy. It is best to get a very early start to avoid both the hot summer sun and to avoid the peak visitor hours.

Directions to the trail:
Take 210 to Arcadia, Take the Santa Anita exit and head north all the way up to Chantry Flats about 3 1/2 mi. Park in upper lot next to ranger station (this is where ride starts). Start ride in upper corner left of ranger station and paved service road.
