Description:
The road in Waterton Canyon follows a beautiful canyon up to the Strontia Springs Dam. There is plenty of fishing along this stretch of the South Platte River. Growing up in Denver, we used to fish our way up the road and then coast back down. Go through a gate and begin an easy climb up a dirt road. The mileage is marked at intervals on green signs. The road follows the South Platte River to the Strontia Springs Dam and ends there at a fork in the road. Return as you came.

Directions to the trail:
From 6th Ave. and I-25 in Denver, drive west on 6th Ave. to Wadsworth. Turn south on Wadsworth and drive to its intersection with C-470. Staying on Wadsworth, go under C-470, drive five miles and turn left on the Waterton Canyon/Roxborough State Park Road. Take your second left into a large parking lot. The trail beings across the road from the parking lot.
