South Johnson County Trail System
Closest Major City: Overland Park
Distance: 30.00 miles (48.27 KM)
Description: The South Johnson County Trail System consists of 3 combined trails together, the Indian Creek/Overland Park Bike & Hike Trail in Overland Park, the Tomahawk Creek Greenway in Leawood, and the Indian Creek Greenway in Olathe. Since all 3 trails connect together, the combined length is about 30 miles. This trail has some hills, including a 1 mile climb at Quivira Park. This trail has something for everyone, but is mainly for the beginners, with a variety of land including flat land, hills, and lots more.
Directions to the trail: There is what I consider three good places to hop on for this trail (or at least real good trailheads) for the trail. The first trailhead is at Tomahawk Creek Parkway just a little bit north of 119th St. The trail is on the east side of the road, and there are many places to park and ride. The next trailhead would be in Corporate Woods at College & Antioch. It is inside the park and there is a place to park and ride. The last good place to get on is at the park on the corner of 127th & Blackbob in Olathe. There are many other numerous places to hop on the trail.
