Site of Pan-American mountain bike race in 1999. Birch Ski area has long grinding climbs with very steep technical switchbacks and dropoffs. The upper single tracks areas are varied with fast winding singletrack to mountain goat switchbacks. For the speed freaks the road and hills down into the valley are pretty fast and mostly smooth. Birch proves mountain biking on the prairies isn't just an oxymoron.

Directions to the trail:
Southwest of Winnipeg on highway #2 for approx 90min. Turn left at large blue sign for Birch Ski Area about 1km west of Roseisle Manitoba. Follow gravel road and turn right at the base of the hill and follow to the parking areas 1)chalet 2)valley.
