Gambrill Yellow Trail

Description: The trail begins and runs parallel to Gambrill Park Road. About a half mile into the trail you'll turn right and continue on the yellow trail. Take another left at the shack and then a left again at the intersection. This is a nice view point with some historical significance - Crampton's Gap. Continue straight through the intersection and at 1.5 miles make a right. Continue on the yellow trail crossing a road and follow doubletrack into the trees. You'll see some power lines, turn right and cruise downhill. At the bottom turn right and follow the Yellow Trail climbing. Reach a road and cross it continuing on the Yellow Trail staying to the left and head downhill. Take a right into the wooded area. At 4.5 turn left heading downhill and stay to the right. Cross an intersection continue downhill turning right at the base. Time to climb!. Pass through a couple of intersections. At 5.8 you're back at the lot. Turn right and follow the Yellow Trail up the first climb and head back to High Knob.
Directions to the trail: Take Route 270 North and then head West on Route 40. Enter the park by making a right on to Gambrill Park Road. Take a left and head toward the High Knob Scenic Area. It's best to park in the first lot.
