Bristlecone pine
Closest Major City: Las Vegas
Distance: 5.00 miles (8.05 KM)
Description: A beautiful get away from the heat of the vegas vally all sommer long. Temps. as much as 20% cooler than the vally, and only 45 min. away! Steady climb on dirt road,no motorized vehicles, for 3 miles. The trail curves around and up to a flat stretch, from whitch you are now overlooking the ski area(wow).Another mile or so you reach the top where the trail loops left. Here you may need to carry your bike over some rocks for about 50 yards, no big deal, totally worth it!From here it is great single track over roots, little drop offs through aspen trees. In early spring, before June, there is water flowing accross the trail to cool off in!The trail puts you out at the ski areas parking lot with a short ride down to where we park. Last week we rode up on a family of deer, all in all a great ride!
Directions to the trail: Take hwy. 95 north to the lee canyon turn off. Go up almost all the way to the ski area you see a red round house on the left. Turn right there up a small road to the dirt parking lot.
